The Children of the Watch are a group of Mandalorian purists who strictly follow the orthodox religion known as the “Way of the Mandalore,” often referred to simply as “The Way”. The Way was abandoned by mainstream Mandalorian society sometime after the Mandalorian Wars.
While The Way resembles the creed followed by a few other Mandalorian sects, it differed from those mainstream organizations in several key ways. One of the biggest differences is that followers of The Way are prohibited from removing their helmets while in the presence of another sentient. Revealing your face to another meant that you may never wear it again, and that you were Mandalorian no more. Those that follow The Way of the Mandalore are also required to display the kar'ta beskar or "iron heart" on their armour as a symbol of their unbreakable heart.
The origins of The Children of the Watch are shrouded in mystery. Some people believe they rose from the ashes of the group known as the Death Watch, others believe that they have been around since before the Mandalorian Wars. In either case, the Children of the Watch can be considered the spiritual successors of the Old Mandalorians. Regardless of their origins, their goals remain clear; The Children of the Watch seek to reestablish their influence and beliefs in mainstream Mandalorian society as well as to see that Mandalore is restored to its former and rightful glory.
The Children of the Watch do not recognize those who refuse to follow The Way of the Mandalore as being Mandalorians. Only those that follow The Way are worthy to have that honor bestowed upon them.
